Health and Safety

At the beheading of Sir Thomas Moore, it is believed that the "scaffolding" was so rickety, he held up his hand out to the executioner saying "i pray you, sir, see me safe up, lest I should injure myself"

In 1871, it was stated in parliament the men entrusted with the erection of scaffolds are seldom anything more than ordinary labourers, and as a rule wholly ignorant of the principles of mechanics as taught in the school.

Unfortunately, even in the present time these statements may occasionally be applicable.

Many of the projects undertake today, need complex and designed scaffolding. This coupled with the requirements of all current legislation necessitate the need for skilled and knowledgeable tradesmen. Stringent controls on Health and Safety at work and continual monitoring by the Health and Safety Executive amplify this.

All our scaffolders are fully trained and are CISRS qualified. They adhere to a strict working code of practice and a vigorous procedure of inspection is applied to all scaffolding systems before a "hand-over" certificate is issued.
